Northern State Athletics Hall of Fame
Royaune (Riss) Jasinski set a new standard of excellence for Northern State track and field during her career from 1982-85. As a senior in 85, she set two Northern State track and field records. The four-time national qualifier broke previous NSU marks in both the heptathlon and high jump, totaling 4,352 points and jumping 5 feet, 8 inches. Her mark in the high jump stood as an all-time South Dakota collegiate record when she set it in 1985. Jasinski was also an outstanding basketball player for NSU, helping the Wolves to two district championships. She still ranks in the top 20 on NSU career lists in steals, assists and blocks. She earned Northern's prestigious Hildred Wolfe Award and Rapid City's Female College Athlete of the Year award in 1985.
Today, she is a physical education instructor and track coach at Rapid City Central and a member of the SDAHPERD. She has coached seven teams for Central and is also the school's colunteer cross-country coach.
Jasinski and her husband, Jerry, are the parents of three children.Â
