Northern State Athletics Hall of Fame
Roe Granger spent most of his life in Aberdeen as a businessman. He received his entire education at Northern, beginning with the first grade. At that time, Northern Sponsored the Model School which was grades one through twelve for the purpose of training teachers in those areas.
He attended college at Northern in 1913 before founding the Granger Dry Cleaning Company, which he operated until his retirement in 1961.
Always interested in the activities at Northern, he was instrumental in the origination of the Roe Granger Cross Country Run. He also sponsored the Old Timers Float in the Gypsy Day parade for many years with as many as 40 former students participating from year to year.
The Roe Granger Foundation was started in his memory by family and friends. The Foundation will purchase trophies each year for the Roe Granger Cross Country event and establish a scholarship for a high school senior who has excelled in track and plans to launch his college career at Northern.
