Northern State Athletics Hall of Fame
Annette Johnson attended Northern from 1967-1971. As a freshman and sophomore at NSU, Johnson played every intramural sport offered since the school had no traveling teams. As a junior and senior, NSU began to send women's teams to compete against other universities, and Johnson took full advantage. Before her collegiate career waws over, she had competed on Northern's first teams in field hockey, volleyball, basketball, and track and field. As a physical education major, she received the school's Outstanding Senior Physical Education Major Award.
Johnson has received the South Dakota High School Coaches Association's Max Hawk Award (1989), a Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Service from the Spearfish School District (1996), the SDAHPERD Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year Award (1998), and various honors awards and teacher of the year awards.
