Northern State Athletics Hall of Fame
Jane Nicolaisen was the three-sport athlete participating in basketball, softball, and volleyball. She lettered for four seasons in basketball (1976-80) and softball (1977-80), and three seasons in volleyball (1976-78). Nicolaisen was named the NSU Female Athlete of the Year in 1976-77. Nicolaisen averaged 13.2 points per game in basketball. She was a member of the first women's basketball team coached by Curt Fredrickson in 1977-78. Nicolaisen scored 1,375 career points and ranks sixth among NSU's career scoring leaders. She holds the school record for best free throw percentage in a season at 91 percent. Nicolaisen posted a 8-1 record on the mound as Northern finished second at the state tourney. She capped her final season of softball by leading the team with a .347 batting average.Â
Nicolaisen earned a physical education teaching degree in 1980.Â
