Mark Nipe was a four-year letter winner in track and a three-year letter winner in football at Northern State from 1973-76.  A two-year starter in football, Nipe was selected as team captain and member of the NAIA All-District team as a flanker in 1976.  During that season he caught 55 passes breaking the single season pass reception record established by Dick Wherry in 1966.  His track team was the 1974 NAIA District 12 track champions in a season, which he set the indoor and outdoor triple jump records.  Nipe was also named the Exponent NSC Male Athlete of the Year in 1976-77.

Nipe received his B.S. degree in education and a math major from NSU in 1977.  He is currently an analyst for the Norwest Technical Services.  He lives with his wife Joy and they have four children.
