Northern State Athletics Hall of Fame
Jack Niesen was a two-year starting quarterback and part of two South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference Championship teams for the Wolves during his career from 1954-58. During his career, Northern compiled a 30-7 record on the gridiron.Â
After earning his bachelor's from Northern in 1959, Niesen held teaching and coaching posts at Miller and Tyndall High Schools until returning to the Hub Cityin 1965 to work for the Aberdeen School District. He finished his master's at Northern in 1968. Niesen was head football coach from 1973-76 for the Golden Eagles and compiled a 42-25-1 record. In 2000, he was inducted into the South Dakota Wrestling Hall of Fame, in 2001, he earned the Distinguished Service Award from SDHSAA and he is equally proud to be inducted into Northern's Hall of Fame.
