Northern State Athletics Hall of Fame
Milton M. Silverstein won many honors for his athletic abilities. He was the second highest scorer on the varsity football team in 1941, and was a state champion in track in 1941 and 1947. Silverstein's years at NSC were interrupted by military service. He attended in 1940-1941 and graduated in 1947 with a bachelor of science degree in education. While at NSC, he was a member of the "N" Club and was president of the Men's Union. On the track team, Silverstein was the state champion in the 220-yard dach, and second in the state in the 100-yard dach in 1941. He held the school record in the 100-yard dash and the 220-yard dach record with 21.9 seconds. In the 1941 conference championships, he won the 100-yard dach in record time, the 220-yard low hurdles, and anchored the record-setting 880-yard relay team. Silverstein was the state champion in the 100-yard dash, and second in the 220-yard dash. In the conference meet, he won the 100-yard dash, the 220-yard dash, and anchored the winning 880-yard relay team.
Silverstein married Rhonda and they have three children.
