Northern State Athletics Hall of Fame
Amy received her B.S. in Special Education in 1993. She was a two sport athlete participating in volleyball and track & field.
Amy started all four years on the Wolves volleyball team and was a stand out jumper and thrower on the track & field teams. She was an All-American as a senior (1993), placing 6th at the National Track and Field meet in the discus. She was a four-time all-NSIC selection and placed second at the NAIA Dist. 12 Championships five times in her career. Amy ended her career holding NSU’s record in the discus.
Amy has worked at the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired for 13 years. She received her Orientation and Mobility Certification from the University of Northern Colorado in 2000 and a Master’s Degree in Low Vision Rehabilitation from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2004.
Ellis and her husband, Justin, have been married for 14 years. They have three daughters, Samantha, Sara, and Summer. Amy is a loyal fan of her daughters’ soccer, volleyball, basketball, and dance teams. She has also coached her daughters’ volleyball and basketball teams.
