Karmen (King) Johnson, the 1985-86 Hildred Wolfe Outstanding Athlete, participated in basketball, track and cross-country from 1982-86.  She set the NSU record for the 100-meter hurdles at 14.41 seconds; 400-meter intermediate hurdles at 1:02:34; and the 60-yard hurdles at 9.14.  She was also a four-time 100-meter hurdler and three-time intermediate hurdler at the NAIA district 12 championships and was undefeated for both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles during the 1984-86 regular seasons. 

Johnson qualified three times for the NAIA national cross-country meet in Kenosha, Wis.  She was an All-American in outdoor track and field in 1984 as she took third place in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles at the NAIA national track meet in Charleston, W.V.  She also was a four-time qualifier for the NAIA outdoor national track and field meet.

Johnson's cross-country teams were the NAIA district champions in 1984-85 and 1985-86 and NAIA district 12 outdoor track champions from 1983 to 1986.  Her 1986 track team was also the Northern Sun Conference team champions. 

Johnson is married to Wayne Johnson and they reside in Martin, S.D. and have three children.
