Elmer Goetz played on the Northern State basketball team from 1952-1955.  During Goetz's seasons, the Wolves compiled a winning record of 47 wins and 22 loses.  They twice captured the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference championship, 1952-53, 1953-54.  Goetz's contributions to Northern basketball were recognized in 1954-55 when he was named to the SDIC All-Conference first team.  During college he was also a member of the Newman Club and N Club, an organization of Northern's letter winners.

Goetz is a member of the Northwest Corporation Credit Advisor Committee and the American Institute of Banking.  He also serves as a member of the Northern State College Foundation Board of Directors and a member of the Wolves Club Advisory Board.

Goetz married Aileen Ahem and they have four children.
