Northern State University Athletics

Robert Beattie's athletic career began on the gridiron although his greatest achievements came in baseball.  He led the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference in scoring as a freshman halfback and, in 1959, was an All-SDIC player for the second time. 

He played six years of professional baseball with the Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Indians.
