Bob Hirsch excelled as a wrestler for Northern State from 1979-83, earning All-American status in 1981 and 1983. The four-year letter-winner compiled a 118-26-1 career record and captured 10 tournament championships. Wrestling at 134 pounds, Hirsch gained the respect of his teammates from the start, being voted the Most Outstanding Freshman in 1979 and earning the team's Most Dedicated Wrestler award in each of his four years of competition. He was the team's Most Valuable Wrestler three out of his four years and served as team captain as a junior and senior.
Hirsch has continued his success in wrestling as a coach, magazine editor and referee since he graduated from NSU.Â
