Northern State University Athletics

Blake Perryman became an All-American from the 2018 NCAA National Championships finishing third at 165-pounds. He was the 43rd Northern State wrestling All-American after qualifying for his first championships.  

The Dakota Dunes native opened his first national championships with a 12-8 decision victory over Shane Ruhnke of Millersville. He advanced to the quarterfinal round, but ultimately fell to Bret Romanzek of Ashland in a 6-1 decision. With his season on the line, Perryman battled in a 6-3 decision win over Nate Ross of Gannon to advance to the second day of competition and determine his final placing. He opened day two with an 11-5 decision victory over Devin Austin of Pitt-Johnstown. He kept things rolling in the consolation semifinals with a 4-2 comeback victory over Rodney Shephard of UNC Pembroke. It was tied at 2-all with just seconds remaining on the clock, when Perryman took is shot and notched the takedown. The Dakota Dunes native then headed to the third place match, facing off against Tyler Mann of Ouachita Baptist. The two wrestlers were scoreless through the first period, with Mann taking the 1-0 lead at the end of the second. Perryman quickly notched an escape, tying things up at 1-all. For the second time on the day, the clock clicked down and Perryman shot notching a last second takedown and the win.
 
Perryman finished the season with a 25-4 record overall and a third place finish from the NCAA National Championships at 165 pounds. The senior earned NSIC All-Conference first team honors, after going undefeated in the league.

2016-17: Wrestled 165 pounds for the Wolves… Named to the NWCA All-Academic second team… Finished the season with a 25-11 record overall and 2-4 mark in league action… Second on the team with six victories by fall, five major decision wins, and four technical falls… Added eight decision victories…

2015-16: Wrestled 157 pounds for the Wolves… Advanced to the second day of the NCAA Super Region III Championships, and wrestled for true forth… Finished the year with a 14-14 record overall… Named NWCA All-Academic…

2014-15: Wrestled 165 as a true freshmen with a record of 5-13
