Vern Jark has excelled both in his collegiate years at Northern and in his professional field as a coach. While at NSU, he participated in three sports: Football, Baseball and Basketball, earning him a total of 12 letters. In Baseball post-season action, he earned recognition for this team effort all four years, which led him to a 13th-round Free Agent Draft by the Chicago Cubs in 1976. As a basketball player, Jack led the SDIC Conference in free-throw percentage in 1975, ranking eighth in NAIA nationally. Jark earned All-Conference SDIC Honorable Mention in 1972 and 1975 and All-Region Baseball Team Honorable Mention in 1973 and 1975. Jark graduated from NSU with Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees.Â
