Chad Hauger was involved in two sports at NSU – as an athlete and a coach. In 1993 he was a member of the 4x100m relay team that finished 7th at the national outdoor meet. Hauger was named men’s team Outstanding Freshmen that season. In 1994 he played on the football team as a defensive back. In 1995 he qualified for the national meet once again and finished up his career at NSU as an athlete in 1996. He returned to Northern as a coach for the 1996-97 season. The coaching staff - Head Coach Jim Fuller and assistant coaches Brenda Fuller, Laura Walter-Shoup, Jami Frechtner, Chris Kocker, and Hauger was named NCAA Division II Northern Central Region Track and Field coaching staff of the month for January and April.
