Wolves Take on the USD Early Bird Invite

Vermillion, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams competed in the first day of the USD Early Bird Invitational on Friday. The Wolves recorded ten top-10 finishes and nine new personal records on the opening day of competition in Vermillion.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Brener Conrad sits in 17th place after day one with 2,759 points in the decathlon with marks of 11.60 in the 100m, 5.29m in the long jump, 10.18m in shot put, 1.55m in high jump, and 53.37 in the 400m
  • Sean Juengst sits in 18th place after day one with 2,576 points in the decathlon with marks of 12.59 in the 100m, 5.43m in the long jump, 9.88m in shot put, 1.73m in high jump, and 56.96 in the 400m
  • Joel Matehs took fifth place in the 400m hurdles with a new personal record of 55.78
  • Drew Henriksen placed 19th in the 400m hurdles in a time of 57.95
  • Josh Martin placed 21st in the 1500m finishing in 4:05.00
  • Nathan Alto placed sixth in the 5,000m race in a time of 15:20.10
  • In the men's 10,000m event, Evan Halbe and Jacob Angerhofer recorded new personal records placing fifth and eight, while Taylor Thorson took tenth in times of 33:14.08, 33:45.00, and 34:27.31 respectively
  • Nick Olson placed fourth in the hammer throw with a new personal record of 55.02m, and added a 23rd place finish in shot put with a distance of 13.17m
  • Ethan Barnett placed 16th in shot put with a mark of 14.06m
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
 
  • Morgan Sheldon sits in fourth place after day one with 2,577 points in the heptathlon with marks of 15.76 in the 100m hurdles, 1.54m in high jump, 10.19m in shot put, and 28.07 in the 200m
  • Addison Cumbow sits in ninth place with 2,219 points in the heptathlon with marks of 16.05 in the 100m hurdles, 1.45m in the high jump, 7.40m in shot put, and 28.61 in the 200m
  • Elisabet Osk Jonsdottir accomplished a new personal record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.12, placing 15th
  • Karli Klein took 19th in the 400m hurdles in 1:10.61 and Emma Hunt finished 22nd with a personal record of 1:11.45
  • Summer Carlson placed fifth in the 800m race with a new personal record of 2:18.16
  • Jolie Dugan took 18th in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 12:20.01
  • Megan Pickering ran the 5,000m event placing second clocking a time of 17:52.39
  • In the 10,000m distance event Jenna Helms placed fourth with a time of 41:58.95
  • Andi Mehrer placed 18th in the discus throw with a mark of 37.40m
  • Cassidy Gough placed ninth in the javelin throw with a mark of 34.19m
  • Jordan West notched a new personal record in the javelin throw with a distance of 31.87m and she took 17th place
  • Bekah Walz won the pole vault event with a height of 3.45m
  • Kenzee Danielson and Gracie Eisenbraun placed fifth and 11th with marks of 3.15m and 3.00m
