Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Northern State University track and field teams competed in the second day of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. The Wolves broke one school record, took eight top-ten finishes, and two athletes move onto the finals tomorrow in the 100m dash and 110m hurdles.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Birnir Vagn Finnsson finished in fourth place in the decathlon with 5,445 points and marks of 11.23 in the 100m, 6.57m in the long jump, 10.97m in the shot put, 1.92m in the high jump, 52.05 in the 400m, 15.47 in the 110m hurdles, 34.82m in the discuss throw, 3.83m in pole vault, and no mark in the javelin throw
- Ross Kortenbusch placed eighth in the decathlon with 4,225 points and marks of 12.07 in the 100m, 5.41m in the long jump, 11.59m in the shot put, 1.62m in the high jump, 54.45 in the 400m, 21.48 in the 110m hurdles, 31.48m in the discuss throw, 2.93m in the pole vault, and 34.74m in the javelin throw
- Jesse Pietz placed 53rd in the 100m prelims with a time of 11.48
- Noah Bayer and Chris Weber placed 18th and 21st in the semifinals for the 100m dash
- Joel Matehs qualified for tomorrow's finals in 110m hurdles with a time of 15.34
- Dan Istvanovich placed 24th in the 400m clocking a time of 53.71
- In the javelin throw Damon Roggenbuck placed 10th with a distance of 47.80m, Noah Ford placed 14th with a mark of 45.94m, and Brener Conrad took 37th with a throw of 33.72m
- The men's 4x200m relay broke the school record in a time of 1:27.57and placing second overall; members of the relay included Noah Bayer, Drew Salfrank, Carter Dingman, and Seth Martens
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Karli Klein finished the heptathlon in eighth place with marks of 16.40 in the 100m hurdles, 1.47m in the high jump, 10.45m in shot put, 28.22 in the 200m, 4.37m in the long jump, 20.34m in the javelin throw, and 2:38 in the 800m
- Tayla Dobrenski placed ninth in the heptathlon with marks of 16.43 in the 100m hurdles, 1.53m in the high jump, 9.05m in shot put, 29.19 in the 200m, 4.81m in the long jump, 26.14m in the javelin throw, and 2:59.12 in the 800m
- Jordan West took 13th place in the heptathlon with marks of 18.17 in the 100m hurdles, 1.44m in the high jump, 9.18m in shot put, 29.28 in the 200m, 4.34m in the long jump, 30.73m in the javelin throw, and 2:52.25 in the 800m
- Elisabet Osk Jonsdottir and Emma Hunt placed 37th and 56th in the 100m prelims with times of 12.95 and 13.28
- Kyanna Collymore placed 18th in the 100m semifinals clocking a time of 12.51
- Renea Taylor qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 100m dash crossing the finish line in 12.28 seconds
- Sheridyn Winter took ninth place in the 1 mile with a time of 6:12.41
- In the hammer throw Olivia Ashley placed 37th with a mark of 35.29m
- Gracie Eisenbraun placed 9th in pole vault with a height of 2.75m
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- The Men's 4x200m relay set a new school record with their time of 1:27.57; The previous school record was set back in 1993 by Josh Trandall, Brent Sheehan, Aaron Ferrie, and Chad Hauger
