Wolves Track and Field Sweeps Augustana in Home Dual

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams swept their Sunday dual with Augustana from the Barnett Center. The Wolves tallied 14 combined event victories between the men's and women's teams.

WOMEN'S TOP RESULTS
  • Makenna Larson and Shanice Burrell earned four points for the Wolves in the 55m, taking second and third with times of 7.47 and 7.51 respectively
  • Isabel Kinzer won the 200m, crossing the finish line in 26.64, closely followed by teammate Emma Rezac with a time of 26.85
  • Jennifer Clark added an event win in the 1000m, finishing in a school record time of 3:01.72; she defeated the next closest opponent by nearly three seconds
  • Jordyn Sterud added a third place finish in the 1000m, recording a time of 3:11.03
  • Burrell and Kinzer moved on to the 55m hurdles, taking first and third with times o f8.29 and 8.64
  • Kicking off the field events, Tava Berg took second in the high jump, clearing 1.60m
  • Jordyn Huneke and Kenzee Danielson claimed the top two spots in the pole vault, clearing 3.79m and 3.39m respectively
  • Shona Juliana added a win in the long jump recording mark of 5.16m; which was 8.75 inches farther than the second place finisher
  • Jordan Menken won both the shot put and weight throw for the Wolves, throwing 12.56m and 14.50m
  • Shawney Coenraad and Rachel Guthmiller followed in the weight, throwing 13.99m and 13.37m; while Christine Stoltenberg took third in the shot, throwing 10.76m
 
MEN'S TOP RESULTS
  • Terry Towah tallied back-to-back wins in the 55m and 200m, notching times of 6.41 and 22.34
  • Dakota Larson took second in the 55m with a time of 6.59, while Tafara Hondonga took second in the 200m with a time of 23.39
  • Hondonga then added an event victory of his own in the 400m, recording a time of 50.93, followed by Seth Martens and Ronald Stephenson with times of 52.13 and 52.65
  • Jorge Garcia ran to second place finishes in both the 800m and 1000m, notching times of 2:01.30 and 2:38.24
  • Jackson Harrison claimed the 1000m crown, finishing with a time of 2:37.54
  • Zach Burns took second in the pole vault, clearing 3.85m
  • Darrian Hood and Zach Bohnenkamp went one-two in the long jump, notching marks of 6.52m and 6.15m
  • Hood then added a second place finish in the triple jump, jumping 13.50m
  • Tanner Berg and Nick Olson swept the throwing events for the Wolves, taking first and second in the shot put and weight throw
  • Berg notched marks of 17.13m in the shot and 21.30m in the weight, while Olson threw 13.64m in the shot and 14.59m in the weight
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Jennifer Clark broke the 1000m record of 3:01.89 held by Jenny Baus from the 2008 season
  • Tanner Berg's throw in the shot put was just .12m off the current school record held by Gerald Schlekeway from 1965; he also moved up to tenth in the nation in the event with the provisional throw
  • With Northern State's 200m track, Terry Towah's converted 200m time of 21.67 currently ranks 12th in the nation and converted 60m time of 6.89 ranks 16th nationally
