Tucson, Ariz. – Northern State University baseball team picked up a 15-3 victory over Waldorf University Thursday afternoon. Wolves improve to 3-2 overall on the season.
The scoring didn't start until the third inning when the Wolves pushed across one run. In the fourth inning the Wolves got the bats rolling bringing in seven runs to extend the lead to 8-0. Waldorf answered with two of their own in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 8-2. A double in the fifth inning scored two runs to extend the lead to eight runs. Northern added five more runs in the seventh to bring the lead to 15-2 before Waldorf pushed one more run across in the bottom of the seventh to make the final score 15-3.
Lucas Lorenz led the Wolves with three hits, one run scored, and three runs batted in.
Justin Barreneche had three hits as well with one run scored, three runs batted in, and walked once.
Kolin Kubitz had two hits in four at bats.
Jack Schmidt had two hits, four runs batted in, and scored once. Jeff Disla had one hit, scored three runs, and one walk.
Sam McMacken hit a solo home run in the seven run fourth inning for his only hit of the game.
Mikey Adams had one hit and scored one run.
Tyler Hair had one hit and one run.
Patrick Leary had scored two runs for NSU.
Off the Bench
Jordan Malainey scored one run.
Jake Kindred also scored one run.
Carter Erickson had one hit and two runs batted in.
Ben Carolin had a hit and scored a run.
Hayden Houts had a hit, scored a run, and had two runs batted in.
Tyler Jones started on the hill for the Wolves and picked up his first win of the season going four innings, gave up five hits, two earned runs, two walks, and three strikeouts.
Andrew Nichols threw two innings in relief not allowing a hit and striking out two. Kindred pitched the final inning giving up two hits, allowing one run to score, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Northern State is back in action Friday Morning against Concordia University (Neb.) for a double header. First Pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. against the Bulldogs with second game to start around 12:30 p.m.
