Wolves and Beavers Match-up in 101st Gypsy Days

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University football team will kick-off against Minot State University this Saturday in the 101st Annual Gypsy Days celebration. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. between the two teams from Swisher Field, with tailgating open at 11.
 
The Wolves enter North Division play after a 31-7 victory over the Golden Bears. Northern tallied a season high 311 yards rushing, and season second best 439 yards of total offense in the victory. Christian McAlvain led the Wolves offense with an NSU career high of 157 yards rushing and one score. He added two more passing TDs and 128 yards in the air with a 73.7 pass completion percentage. Jacob Wiedrich took on the full array of kicking duties, averaging 50.0 yards per punt and 54.0 yards per kick-off. He also added a 30 yard field goal and four PATs. Chad Stoterau made his presence known on the defensive line with eight tackles, and a sack for a total loss of five yards. Stoterau also added a third down, 21 yard reception on offense. NSU tallied 11 defensive members with multiple tackles, and combined for four sacks for a total loss of 25 yards.  The Wolves are 4-6 overall in the last 10 Gypsy Day contests.

• Minot State is 1-3 overall this season, with a 20-14 victory over Wayne State College in week 2.
• MSU has been outscored by their opponents 125-48 this season, however has tallied 71 total first downs.
• The Beaver offense gears more towards the air attack averaging 255.8 yards passing versus 74.0 yards rushing per game.
• Quarterback, Isaiah Weed is completing 65 percent of his passes with just three interceptions in 2016.
• Donnell Vercher leads the Minot defense with 37 tackles this season, including one interception and two pass break-ups.
