NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

• The Wolves are coming off a 7-4 season in 2025 where three school records were broken and nine student-athletes earned All-Conference accolades
• Jake Adams and Daniel Porisch went on to earn All-America honors through the AFCA, Don Hansen, and D2Football.com
• Northern enters the 2026 season picked sixth overall and second in the North Division in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll
• Adams and Hank Kraft were picked as the North Division's defensive and offensive preseason players to watch despite playing only partial seasons in 2025; Adams also garnered a spot on the D2Football.com Elite 100 Watch List
• Adams earned his second straight North Division preseason player of the year nod, following a 93-tackle season in just seven games played where he captured the NSU Division II era career tackles record, sitting at 303 and counting
• Kraft appeared in four games last season, recording 311 yards of total offense with three touchdowns
• NSU returns 17 starters from the 2025 campaign including nine on defense, while welcoming over 50 incoming freshmen and transfers
• Mike Schmidt enters his seventh year at the helm of NSU holding a career record of 31-28 with the Wolves

 

(RV) CHADRON STATE STORYLINES

• Chadron State went 8-4 overall and 8-1 in the RMAC last season, reaching the opening round of the NCAA Championships
• They open the season receiving votes in the AFCA Top-25 Preseason Poll and ranked 21 in the D2Football.com Preseason Rankings
• The Eagles were picked fourth overall in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll behind CSU Pueblo, Western Colorado, and Colorado School of Mines
• Preseason players to watch for CSC include returning quarterback Aidan Thompson and defensive lineman William Stemler
• Stemler was named to the D2Football.com Elite 100 Watch List, recording 57 tackles, including 11.5 sacks in 2025
• Chadron returns key contributors Daytuawn Pearson (RB), Thompson (QB), Garet Schlabs (WR), Cooper Walton (LB), Stemler (DL), and Ryder True (LB) heading into 2026
