Wolves Improve to Sixth Place on Day Three of NSIC Championships

Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Northern State swim team moved up in the team standings of the 2022 NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships, improving to sixth place with a total of 160 team points. The Wolves saw both Lauren Forsyth and Haley Osborne competing in Friday night's A Finals, with Forsyth earning all-conference honors in the 200 yard butterfly.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Haley Osborne led Northern State in the 500 yard freestyle, earning a seventh place finish in the A Final with a time of 5:08.14; Fanny Legros competed in the B Final, finishing 13th overall in a time of 5:17.66
  • In the C Final of the 500 yard freestyle, Delaney Ryken finished with a time of 5:25.61 for a 21st overall finish
  • Maddie Gonzales was the top finisher for the Wolves in the 100 yard backstroke, winning the B Final and finishing ninth overall in a time of 57.31
  • In the 100 yard breaststroke, Mayson Sheldon was the top NSU swimmer, finishing 22nd overall and hitting the wall in 1:07.44
  • Lauren Forsyth became the second all-conference swimmer of conference championships for the Wolves when she finished third overall in the 200 yard butterfly in a time of 2:06.37
  • Hannah Kiernan competed in the C Final of the 200 yard butterfly and finished 21st overall in a time of 2:19.17
  • The Northern State relay team of Connor Doran, Brianna Back, Ryken, and Osborne earned a ninth place finish in the 800 yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:51.94
UP NEXT
Northern State will return to action on the fourth and final day of the NSIC Championships at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. The first session of the day will feature preliminaries in the 100 yard IM, 100 yard freestyle, 200 yard backstroke, 200 yard breaststroke, and the 1650 yard freestyle. The night session, which starts at 5:30 p.m., will consist of the finals of those five events plus the finals in one-meter diving and the 400 yard freestyle relay.
