Biography

2022-23: Recorded a top-10 finish in the 50-yard freestyle at the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships with a tenth place finish and time of 24.39… Was a part of four top-10 relay teams at the NSIC Championships, contributing to the sixth place 200-yard medley relay which tied the school record time (1:47.96), the seventh place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:33.00), the eighth place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:38.57), and the ninth place 800-yard freestyle relay (7:56.17)… Earned one individual event win with ten top-3 individual finishes, and was also a part of three winning relay teams and a total of 12 top-3 finishing relay teams throughout the season… Notched personal-best times in the 50-yard butterfly (28.02), 50-yard freestyle (24.04), and the 100-yard freestyle (52.87)… Ranked 14th in the NSIC in the 50-yard freestyle (24.04) and 19th in the 100-yard freestyle (52.87)… Was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence…

2021-22: Swam to personal best times in the 50 yard freestyle (24.54), 100 yard freestyle (53.07), 50 yard butterfly (29.36), and the 100 yard butterfly (1:06.00)… Recorded one event win in the 500 yard freestyle and totaled four top-3 finishes among the 500, 1000, and 1650 yard freestyle… Was a member of the 400 yard freestyle relay team at the NSIC Championships that recorded a sixth place podium finish with a time of 3:32.15… Was a member of the 200 yard freestyle relay team at the NSIC Championships that broke the school record with a time of 1:37.55 in a time trial…

2021: Tallied collegiate bests of 35.44 in the 50 back and 2:27.59 in the 200 fly…

2019-20: Swam personal bests in the 50 free (25.71), 100 free (54.83), 200 free (1:57.21), 500 free (5:16.74), and 1650 free (18:32.61)…

Prep: Delaney Ryken is a freestyle swimmer out of Ames High School. She is a 3-year starter and senior team captain for the Little Cyclones under the direction of head coach Dan Flannery. Ames is the back-to-back-to-back-to-back state champions in Iowa, earning NISCA national championship status since 2015. Ryken is also a member of the Ames Cyclone Aquatics Club hitting sectional time cuts in four events, and holes personal record times of 1:57.76 in the 200 free, 5:16.63 in the 500 freestyle, 10:49.52 in the 1000 freestyle, and 18:08.64 in the 1650 freestyle. She is the daughter of Jim and Marcy Ryken.
