Wolves Head to Vermillion for SD Tune-up

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State track and field teams close out the regular season tomorrow at the South Dakota Tune-up. Competition opens up at 2 p.m. with the track events and 2:30 p.m. with the field events from the Lillibridge Complex.

  • Shanice Burrell is 25th nationally in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.22
  • Tava Berg is ranked ninth in the high jump with a 1.73m (5-08.00) provisional mark
  • Jordyn Huneke ranks sixth in the pole vault with an auto qualifying mark of 4.10m (13-05.25)
  • Tanner Berg is ranked third in the hammer throw with an auto qualifying mark of 68.60m (255-01.00)
 
SCHOOL RECORD WATCH
  • Tanner Berg broke his own hammer throw record at the USD Early Bird Meet, throwing 65.83m (215-11.75) and for a second time at Wayne with a 68.60m (225-01.00) toss; his previous record set in 2019 was 61.60m
  • Jorydn Huneke broke Alli Arampatzis' pole vault record of 3.90m set in 2011, with a 3.91m (12-10.00) vault at the SD Challenge; she then re-broke the record at the Sioux City Relays, clearing 4.07m (13-04.25) and at the Wildcat Challenge, clearing 4.10m (13-05.25)
  • Shona Juliana broke the long jump school record with a 5.64m (18-06.00) at the NSU Open; the record was previously held by Peggy Nordyke with a mark of 5.62m set in 1984
  • Tava Berg tallied a school record in the high jump at the Wildcat Challenge with a 1.73m (5-08.00) mark; the record was previously set by Royanne Ross in 1985 with a 1.72m jump
