Vermillion, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field team participated in day one of the South Dakota Challenge Friday. 10 top-8 placers and four personal bests were recorded on the day.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE MEN  
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Stoks' and Zachary Palmer's 3000m steeple times secured them each a personal best time
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE WOMEN
  • Crossing the finish line at 18:06.56 in the women's 5000m was Abby Hasart to secure a second place finish; Emaleigh Olesiak finished fifth with a time of 18:42.18
  • The hammer throw saw Brooke Mushatt, Olivia Ashley, and Chloe Peterson take top-8 spots; their marks were 44.92m, 43.59m, and 41.22m for fourth, fifth, and seventh place, respectively
  • Grace Kuch also placed in the women's hammer throw, coming in eighth with a 39.96m mark
  • An 11:49.15 time in the 3000m steeple was enough for Jolie Dugan to finish in the top-8 in the event
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Hasart's 5000m time was a new personal record for her
  • Setting a personal best in the 1500m was Madeline Nye's 5:19.62 time
