Duluth, Minn. – The Northern State University track and field teams each finished fifth from the NSIC Outdoor Championships, with the women notching 67 points and the men recording 65 points. In addition, NSU tallied a combined two individual champions and 13 all-conference performances.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Shanice Burrell just missed an all-conference performance in the 100m hurdles, notching a school record time of 13.94 in fourth overall
- The 4x100m relay team of Isabel Kinzer, Shona Juliana, Emma Rezac, and Burrell ran to a third place finish, crossing the finish line in a school record 47.25
- Kinzer, Burrell, Dakota Hutzler, and Rezac grabbed one team point in the 4x400m relay, taking eighth with a time of 3:58.13
- Juliana went on to grab a school record of her own in the triple jump, taking fifth with an 11.55m (37-10.75) mark
- Rachel Guthmiller took third in the javelin, notching an all-conference award with a 38.99m (12-11.00) toss
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Seth Martens and Tafara Hondonga took fifth and sixth in the 400m dash, notching times of 48.89 and 49.29 respectively
- Kelson Brewer tallied all-conference honors in the 400m hurdles, taking third with a time of 54.53
- The 4x100m relay team of Hondonga, Isaiha Fletcher, Dakota Larson, and Martens ran to a time of 42.32 in sixth overall
- Hondonga, Brewer, Fletcher, and Martens put together a runner-up finish and all-conference award winning 4x400m relay, racing to a time of 3:16.73
- Brewer added four more team points, taking fifth in the pole vault with a 4.54m (14-10.75) mark
- Tanner Berg and Nick Olson closed out their championships meet with fifth and eighth place finishes in the discus, throwing 46.32m (152-00.00) and 43.32m (142-01.00) respectively
BEYONG THE RESULTS
- Shanice Burrell broke Hanneke Oosterwegel's 100m hurdle school record of 13.99 set in 2017
- The women's 4x100m relay team broke their own school record of 47.35 set earlier this season
- Shona Juliana broke a 34-year old record in the triple jump, a mark of 11.51m (37-09.50) set by Monique Ryckman in 1987
