Track and Field Records Three Runner-up Marks from Day Two of the SD Challenge

Vermillion, S.D. – The Northern State University men's and women's track and field teams rounded out the SD Challenge on Saturday with the full team in competition. The Wolves notched 17 top-10 finishes on day two, including three runner-up marks.
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Tava Berg notched a runner-up finish in the high jump, clearing 1.70m (5-07.00) as the top Division II placer with a national provisional mark
  • Shona Juliana jumped 11.33m (37-02.25) in the triple jump, taking fourth overall
  • The 4x100m relay team of Isabel Kinzer, Makenna Larson, Shanice Burrell, and Emma Rezac ran to a time of 48.58 in fifth place
  • Megan Mooberry took 13th in the 1500m run with a time of 4:53.63
  • Burrell went on to take sixth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.47, while Rezac placed seventh in the 400m with a time of 59.34
  • Destiny Wenger also landed in the top-15 of the 400m, notching a mark of 1:01.56
  • Kinzer followed her relay performance, taking fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.37
  • Megan Pickering recorded a fifth place finish in the 5000m run with a time of 19:07.44, followed by Madison Leapaldt in 11th with a time of 21:22.69
  • The Wolves concluded their day with the 4x400m relay team of Rezac, Jennifer Clark, Larson, and Wenger taking tenth with a time of 4:10.71
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Bryce Malsam finished off the decathlon taking fifth with 5,782 points; he notched day two marks of 16.28 in the 110m hurdles, 30.53m in the shot put, 3.85m in the pole vault, 42.28m in the javelin, and 5:47.17 in the 1500m run
  • Tanner Berg tallied a second place finish in the hammer, throwing 62.37m (204-07.50), and went on to take seventh in the shot put with a 16.36m (53-08.25) toss
  • Kelson Brewer recorded a 13th place finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.35m (14-03.25)
  • In the triple jump, Darrian Hood took eighth overall, jumping 13.01m (42-08.25)
  • Riccardo Done notched a second place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:28.33
  • Jackson Harrison took 11th in the 1500m run, running to a time of 4:04.93
  • Tafara Hondonga and Seth Martens took seventh and ninth in the 400m, tallying times of 49.49 and 49.75 respectively
  • Brady Janssen and Donovan Miller took 12th and 14th in the 400m hurdles with times of 59.27 and 59.94
  • The 4x400m relay squad of Martens, Ronald Stephenson, Brewer, and Isaiha Fletcher capped of the day with a time of 3:23.40 in fifth overall
