Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team is set to head to Winona State for the last weekend of the regular season. First pitch for Friday is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and Saturday at 12 p.m. against the Warriors.
The Wolves enter the week with a 17-17 overall and a 10-12 NSIC record (8
th). Last week Northern State went 4-2 splitting with Winona State and took three games from Minnesota Duluth. NSU as a team, is hitting .281 with 20 home runs, six triples, and 66 doubles on 285 hits.
Jack Schmidt leads the team with .403 batting average, second on the team is
Dakota Stilson with a .336, and
Justin Barreneche has a .309 average on the season. Schmidt also leads the Wolves with 50 hits, second is Stilson with 38, and
Lucas Lorenz have tallied 33 hits on the season. Schmidt notched a team high eight home runs on the season and Lorenz is second with four. Schmidt Stilson has a team leading 13 doubles, second on the team is Stilson with 12.
NSU as a pitching staff has a 5.15 earned run average, giving up 273 hits, 146 earned runs, striking out 207 hitters, while walking 121, and giving up a .269 batting average.
Luke Chevalier leads the pitching staff with four wins on the season with 51.2 innings and 45 strikeouts,
Thomas Sertic is second on the team with 39.0 innings pitched and 39 strikeouts.
Colton Landreth is third on the team with 22 strikeouts in 25.2 innings.
Holt Hunziker has a team leading three saves giving up two runs in 16.2 innings in relief while striking out 17.
