Wolves to Face Minot State in Sioux Falls Wednesday Morning

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team will play Minot State in a conference double header Wednesday afternoon. Due to poor field conditions in Aberdeen, the games are going to be played at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls. First pitch is schedule for 11 a.m. against the Beavers.

The Wolves enter the midweek double header with a 9-11 overall and a 2-6 NSIC record (11th). NSU as a team, is hitting .280 with 15 home runs, six triples, and 40 doubles on 168 hits. NSU as a pitching staff has a 6.56 earned run average, giving up 185 hits, 106 earned runs, striking out 114 hitters, while walking 72, and giving up a .306 batting average. Jack Schmidt leads the team with .452 batting average, second on the team is Dakota Stilson with a .365, and Justin Barreneche has a .347 average on the season. Schmidt also leads the Wolves with 33 hits, second is Stilson with 23, and Barreneche has 17 hits on the season. Schmidt is has a team high five home runs on the season and Lucas Lorenz is second with four. Schmidt leads the team with nine doubles, while Stilson is second with eight. Luke Chevalier lead the pitching staff with three wins on the season with back-to-back shutout starts. Chevalier leads the Wolves with 31.0 innings and 27 strikeouts, Sam Krapf is second on the team with 21.1 innings pitched. Thomas Sertic is second on the team with 15 strikeouts in 15.2 innings. Holt Hunziker has not given up a run in 13.0 innings in relief while striking out 14. Fielding percentage for the Wolves is at .963 with 23 errors as a team in 436 chances.

Wolves are coached by Dean Berry in his eighth year as head coach.
