Box Score Tucson, Ariz. – A walk-off home run gave the Northern State University baseball team a victory over #24 St. Cloud State 3-2 in non-conference action. The Wolves improve to 2-1 with the victory.
St. Cloud State started the scoring in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning,
Hayden Hall singled in a run to tie it up through two. The Huskies took the lead back in the seventh inning to take a 2-1 lead. The Wolves answered again with a squeeze by
Justin Barreneche to tie the game at two heading into the eighth inning.
St. Cloud had a runner on second with one out in the ninth before
Brock Ragatz came in and got the next two hitters out to get out of the inning. Hall in the bottom of the inning hit a solo home run to give the Wolves the victory.
Hall led the Wolves with three hits, two runs, and two runs batted in.
Jack Schmidt had a hit in three at-bats.
Lucas Lorenz and
Dakota Stilson had one hit in four at-bats.
Ben Carolin had a pinch hit single in the seventh inning for the Wolves.
Justin Barreneche had one hit in three at-bats with one run batted in.
Sam Krapf started on the hill for the Wolves going six strong innings giving up six hits, one earned run, one walk, and three strikeouts.
Colton Landreth entered the game in the seventh inning and gave NSU two and a third strong innings giving up one run on five hits. Ragatz picked up the win in relief going two-thirds of an inning.
Northern State is back in action Tuesday as they will face Northwestern College. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 (CT) against the Red Raiders.
