FAYETTE, Iowa – The Northern State University women's volleyball team ended its six-game losing streak Saturday when they defeated the Peacocks of Upper Iowa University by a score of 3-2 in Fayette, Iowa.  The set scores for the match were 16-25, 25-20, 25-16, 27-29, and 17-15.

Jill Rasmussen exploded for 25 kills in leading the Wolves attack, which shatters her previous career-high of 16 kills she set against Minnesota-Crookston on September 8, 2007.  It was also the highest number of kills by a Wolves player this season, and is the second-highest single match mark since at least 1998, and she also led the team with a very impressive .431 hitting percentage.  Kayla Ysteboe and Caitlin Oelke contributed nicely as well, posting 12 and 11 kills, respectively.  Megan Gibraith continued to pace the offense with her season-high 55 kills which also sets a career-high for her.  Her previous career high for assists was 49, set against Winona State on October 27, 2007.  Stephanie Nygaard once again led the defensive end with 28 digs, with Melanie Perez and Gilbraith helping out, chipping 15 and 10, respectively.

The win by the volleyball team completes an impressive Gypsy Days Saturday sweep in Wolves athletics adding to the wins posted today by the women's soccer team (W, 3-1 over Southwest Minnesota State) and the football team (W, 35-0 over Minnesota-Crookston.)
