WOLVES SWEEP GOLDEN EAGLES IN HOME/CONFERENCE OPENER

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University volleyball team opened NSIC play Friday night with a sweep over Minnesota Crookston inside Wachs Arena. After a close first set, the Wolves comfortably took the next two sets to secure the 3-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northern State came out on top against Minnesota Crookston in straight sets with set scores of 25-18, 25-14, and 25-13
  • The Wolves hit .417 as a team with 51 kills, 48 assists, 63 digs, and five service aces
  • Defensively, Northern held Crookston to a .135 attack percentage and limited UMC to 25 kills throughout the match
  • NSU broke open the second set with an early 6-0 run, taking an 8-2 lead before eventually cruising to a 25-14 victory
  • The third set saw the Wolves hit .594, recording 20 kills with just one error
  • Linnea Nesheim led the Wolves on offense with 15 kills while hitting .406; she added nine digs and two service aces
  • Victoria Persha had the highest attack percentage (.529), along with 11 kills, an ace, and 12.5 points
  • Guiding the Northern State offense with 42 assists was Ava Nilsson; she added 11 digs as well
  • Ashley Yost anchored the defense with a team-high 18 digs
