ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Dragons of MSU Moorhead took advantage of a poor Northern State shooting night, toppling the Wolves 58-38 in an NSIC matchup Saturday night at Wachs Arena.  Northern had its poorest shooting performance of the season and gave up the rebounding edge for just the second time this year.  The Wolves fall to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC standings while MSU Moorhead improves to 9-5 on the year and 3-2 in the NSIC.

It was apparent from the time of the tip that it would be a low scoring game.  There were less than 25 points scored in the opening ten minutes of the game.  A layup from Krissy OToole at the 10:51 mark put the Wolves up 11-10.  MSUM's Krista Opheim answered with a three-point shot to reclaim the lead for the Dragons, a lead that lasted the remainder of the game.

The Wolves hit just two more field goals in the final 11 minutes of the half, a three-pointer each from Jessica Deinert and Jaclyn Arns.  The Dragons streaked to a 20-6 finish and closed out the half with a 30-17 lead.  NSU shot 26.3% in the half, while MSUM warmed up to a 40.0% performance.

MSU Moorhead stretched its lead to 24 points in the second half as Northern continued to struggle from the field.  A 13-2 opening run gave the Dragons their largest lead of the game, 43-19 with 12 minutes remaining.

Causing further damage to Northern on the night was the Dragon's ability to rebound.  Northern, who entered the game as the NSIC's leading rebounding team, gave up an 11-rebound margin, 46-35 in favor of the Dragons.  This was just the second time in the 2007-08 season that Northern lagged its opponents on the boards.

The Wolves finished the game with a season low 26.3% shooting figure, connecting on 15 of 57 shots.  They also struggled at the free throw line with just 5-of-13 shots made.  Jaclyn Arns was NSU's only player to record double figures in scoring, finishing with ten points.  Noelle Hall had eight points and eight rebounds, while Amanda Glenz pulled down seven boards.

MSU Moorhead had two players post double doubles in the win.  Allison Swenson led her squad with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Shelly Soule recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Jessica Fesenmaier was also a strong presence on the floor.  She hit 5-of-8 shots for 11 points and had six blocked shots.  The Dragons shot 38.3% from the field and nailed 9-of-11 free throws.  They had 20 points in scored in the paint.

The Wolves look to snap a five-game losing streak next weekend as they travel to Bemidji State and Minnesota, Crookston for a set of NSIC games.  Both matchups tip off at 6:00 p.m.
