GRAND FORKS, N.D. - An undefeated Dickinson State volleyball team handed Northern State their second loss of the season in NSU's final match at the UND Invite. The Wolves won the first game 30-26, but DSU answered with three straight wins, 30-26, 30-24, and 30-16. The Blue Hawks improve to 6-0 on the season while NSU falls to 5-2.
Northern hit .190 in the match, while Dickinson swung at a rate of .271. The Wolves received 13 kills from
Kelsey Aden and ten from
Stephanie Perez.
Jill Rasmussen led the blocking effort with three assists. Five NSU players had double figures in digs, led by
Melanie Perez with 19. The Wolves struggled from the serving line, committing ten errors in the match.
Nancy Nyongesa and Elizabeth Castillo led the Blue Hawks with 18 and 17 kills each, respectively. Two other DSU players had 13 kills each. Dickinson had eight team blocks and won the battle for digs, 88 to NSU's 82.
After seven matches on the road, the Wolves will play their 2007 home opener on Friday, September 7. They host Bemidji State in the first NSIC matchup of the year in Wachs Arena at 7:00 pm.
