ABERDEEN, S.D. - The 19th-ranked South Dakota Coyotes claimed a demanding 89-53 decision over Northern State's women's basketball team in a non-conference meeting on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves fall to 7-5 overall, while South Dakota now sits with an 11-1 overall record. Northern returns to action on December 30 with an away game at Minnesota Duluth. The game will be broadcast on 1420 KSDN AM.
The Coyotes sunk 14 three-pointers against the Wolves, shooting 51.9% (14-27) from long range. On the game, South Dakota shot 46.8% (29-62) from the field, while Northern hit 40.0% (20-50) of their shots. The Wolves remained strong on the boards, maintaining a 35-31 rebounding edge.
South Dakota's first deciding lead in the game came midway through the first half as they kept Northern to just a single bucket from the 11:52 mark until the 5:06 mark. The Coyotes went from a one point lead to a 14 point lead during this time. They continued to rain in shots from long range and also shorter jumpers on their way to a 38-18 halftime lead.
The Wolves picked up their scoring in the second half, putting in 35 points compared to just 18 scored in the first half. Unfortunately, the Coyotes continued to score as well and they opened the margin wider as the game progressed. USD hit nine second half three-pointers and led by as many as 39 points with under a minute to play in the game. The Coyotes finished with an 89-53 win.
Noelle Hall was the leading scorer and rebounder for the Wolves on the day, finishing with a 13-point, 11-rebound double double.

Jessica Deinert each added seven points for the Wolves, with Arns dishing a team high four assists.
With four three-pointers in the game, Jeana Hoffman led South Dakota with 21 points. Bridget Yoerger had a successful game for USD with 11 points and a team high seven rebounds. There were two other South Dakota players to finish in double figures for scoring. The team had a season low five turnovers and forced the Wolves into 21 turnovers, which ties their season high mark.
