Winona, Minn. – Northern State baseball took to the road as they visited Winona State in their last series of the season. After dropping game one in heartbreaking fashion, the Wolves win game two from late-game heroics by Dalton Kesti.

GAME ONE: NSU 3, WSU 6
  • Northern went ahead early with a run in the top of the first; Dalton Kesti had a leadoff walk then stole second, a double down the right line by Drew Benson brought Kesti home
  • Right after, Winona took the 2-1 lead with a couple of unearned runs in the first inning
  • Easton Rerick started the second with a single; he later touched home on a Kesti single to tie the game 2-2
  • Wolves and Warriors went back-and-forth again as WSU scored in the bottom of the second and Dillon Castellanos homered in the third to tie things up again
  • A three-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth put Winona up 6-3 to end the game's scoring
  • The Wolves went three up, three down in the top of the seventh to close the game

  • Winona put up the first run of the game in the bottom of the second
  • The Wolves scored three just after that; a Dalton Kesti single brought in Jack Weidner, Dylan Soulek scored on a wild pitch, and Dillon Castellanos batted Kesti home on a double
  • Northern added a run in the top of the fifth with a solo home run by Kesti; Wolves on top 4-1
  • Three runs were scored from Northern in the seventh; Soulek was batted in by Drew Benson, a Collin Lott single got Kesti to touch home, and Benson scored on a Jonah Schmidt single
  • Not backing down was the Warriors who scored their second run of the game; NSU 7, WSU 2
  • Benson singled up the middle to bring in Kesti and Soulek and push the Wolves' lead to 9-2
  • Singles, walks, and wild pitches spearheaded a Warrior comeback in the bottom of the eighth inning; Winona jumps ahead 10-9
  • Tying the game in the nineth was Easton Rerick on a Soulek fielder's choice
  • Northern took back the lead with a two-run Kesti homer to right field; Wolves on top 12-10
  • Another Warrior comeback fell short as WSU added only one run in the bottom of the nineth
