SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Wolves baseball took to the field Saturday to face the Beavers of Bemidji State in the first of a four-game series (three conference games). Northern State falls short in a closely contested game.

Records: NSU 0-5 (NSIC 0-4), BSU 4-9 (NSIC 1-3)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first inning saw no Wolves runs and Collin Lott left on base (walk); the Beavers had no runs, no hits, and no one left on base
- NSU had bases loaded and one out in the top of the second but couldn't bring anyone home
- Drew Benson stepped up to the plate and doubled with two outs in the top of the third; Casey Vining followed with a double himself, bringing Benson home and getting the Wolves a 1-0 lead
- Bemidji took the lead in the bottom of the fourth, scoring two runs on a Northern fielding error
- Responding in the fifth to tie the contest was Dillon Castellanos touching the plate off a Vining RBI; prior to Vining's hit, three Wolves were walked to load the bases
- The Beavers scored one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to go up 5-2
- Looking to rally, Dylan Soulek batted in Lott with two outs in the top of the seventh inning
- With no more scores for the rest of the game, the Wolves' comeback fell short 5-3
