Tucson, A.Z. – The Northern State University baseball team capitalized on crucial hitting opportunities to defeat Wesleyan University, 11-8, in a non-conference matchup. The Wolves took advantage of costly errors by the Cardinals early in the game. NSU finished the game with 11 runs on nine hits and no errors.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern State kicked off the game, scoring in the first inning off a fielder's choice that scored Nicholas Ochoa
- In the top of the second, Nick Friedges singled to right field to score Jonah Schmidt, followed by a bases-loaded walk that brought in Mateo Tahsini to lead by three
- The Wolves added one more run in the second off a sacrifice fly by Brennan Phillips that scored Friedges
- Wesleyan University responded with two runs in the bottom of the second to trail by two.
- In the top of the third, Jack Weidner scored on a sacrifice fly by Dillon Castellanos to extend their lead to three
- After two scoreless innings, the Wolves added two more runs off a sac-fly by Weidner that scored Michael Benevides, followed by Phillips scoring on an error by the catcher.
- In the fifth inning, Schmidt closed out the scoring with a single that scored Castellanos to lead 8-2
- Schmidt stole home in the top of the seventh to add to NSU's lead
- The Cardinals responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh
- NSU scored two more runs off of back-to-back bases-loaded walks that brought in Tahsini and Benevides to lead by eight runs
- Wesleyan University chipped away at the deficit with five runs in the eighth and ninth innings
- NSU recorded 11 runs off of nine hits with no errors on the day.
- Lance Behrens notched the win in 4.0 innings pitched with six strikeouts against 20 batters faced
