Wolves Take on Mustangs in First Round of NSIC Tournament

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team suits up for the first round of the NSIC tournament to take on Southwest Minnesota State. Tip-off time is set for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 3 from Sioux Falls Sanford Pentagon against the Mustangs.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • The Wolves enter the postseason with a 20-7 record overall and 16-6 mark in the NSIC, finishing the regular season in fourth place
  • They are averaging 67.3 points, 39.3 rebounds, 14.2 assists, 14.4 turnovers, 6.8 steals, and 4.1 blocks per game
  • Northern State is shooting 42.2% from the floor, 31.3% from the 3-point line, and 73.9% from the foul line this season
  • Madelyn Bragg leads the team averaging 17.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game along with connecting on 51.6% of shots from the floor
  • Bragg also notched a team lead of 48 blocks in the 2023-24 season
  • Rianna Fillipi and Alayna Benike follow averaging 12.7 and 9.6 points per game and 7.1 and 4.8 boards respectively

SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE STORYLINES
  • Southwest Minnesota State enter the postseason with an 18-11 overall record and 15-7 mark in the NSIC, finishing fifth in the regular seaso
  • The Mustangs defeated Augustana, 93-85 to advance to the first round of the NSIC tournament
  • SMSU is shooting 42.9% from the floor, 36.0% from the 3-point line, and 76.0% from the foul line
  • They are averaging 74.7 points, 36.8 rebounds, 13.2 assists, 13.0 turnovers, 7.5 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game
  • Bri Stoltzman is first on the team averaging 18.0 points and 6.6 boards per game along with leading the team with 104 assists and 60 steals
