Fan Primer: Wolves Conclude Regular Season Against UMary and Minot State

Aberdeen, S.D. â€“ The Northern State women’s basketball team has reached the final weekend of the regular season as they are set to face UMary in a road battle before returning to Wachs Arena to face Minot State. The Wolves and Marauders are scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Thursday evening at the McDowell Activity Center in Bismarck, North Dakota. Northern is then set to finish regular season action against Minot State on Saturday at 6 p.m., where they will honor four seniors for Senior Night in Wachs Arena.

Game Specific Promotions

  • Northern State will honor their women's basketball seniors 10 minutes prior to Saturday's contest
  • NSU SAAC will sponsor the It's a Slam Dunk, Don't Drive Drunk NSIC promotion, with information shared throughout the night
  • A local Girl Scouts troop will be selling cookies at the contest

 

Entrances to the Facility & Gate Opening Times

Fans will be able to enter the Barnett Center through both the north and south doors. Access to the south entrance is available through both Dakota Bank Stadium entrances off South State Street and 15th Ave SE. Ticket gates will be located at both the north and south doors of the Barnett Center, and will open one hour prior to tip-off for all general admission and same day ticket sales. Gates will open one hour prior to tip-off each game day. 

 

Online Ticketing

Wolves Club season tickets and general admission passes can be purchased online at nsuwolves.universitytickets.com or at the gate on game day. The fully automated system allows fans to select their seat for game day with tickets sent directly to your email or mobile device. Pricing for season and single game tickets is available at nsuwolves.com/tickets. Senior and youth tickets are only available for purchase at the gate on game days. All game day ticket sales will be available at both the North and South entrances of the Barnett Center. The Northern State passbook will be located at the north doors of the Barnett Center, individuals must sign in via the far right line at the ticket gate. There is no re-entry into the facility.

Current Northern State University students will receive one free ticket to all home sporting events throughout the 2022-23 academic. Information on how to claim student tickets will be distributed via email. 

 

Parking

The first three rows of parking in the Barnett Center main lot will be reserved for Wolves Club members with an annual parking pass, with free parking for all fans available in the following rows to the North.

 

Concessions and Team Store

The Northern State concession stands are operated by Sodexo and offer a wide range of options for fans of all ages. Enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola product, bite into a soft pretzel with cheese, a world famous Wolf dog, or walking taco. Don’t forget to grab a freshly made popcorn or batch of Wisconsin cheese curds from one of the concession stands near you at all home Wolves athletic events. The NSU Nike Team Store will be open in its main Barnett Center location on game day, opening one hour prior to tip-off.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • Northern State enters the final week of the regular season with a record of 15-11 (10-10 NSIC)
  • The Wolves are currently tied for seventh overall in the league standings and tied for fourth in the north division
  • Last weekend Northern earned a critical road sweep against Bemidji State (62-54) and Minnesota Crookston (75-60) in north division play
  • The weekend sweep secured the most single-season wins during the Paula Krueger era for Northern State with 15 and counting
  • Kailee Oliverson became the second NSU women’s basketball player, joining Laurie Rogers, to earn NSIC North Division Player of the Week honors this season after she averaged 16.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, and 1.0 assist per game against BSU and UMC
  • In the last nine games, Oliverson is averaging 19.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game; during that span she is shooting the ball 47.5 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from 3-point range, and 85.4 percent from the free throw line
  • Oliverson leads a trio of Wolves who average double figures in scoring with 14.6 points per game this season, Rogers and Rianna Fillipi add 11.7 and 11.2 points per game respectively
  • Rogers is averaging a team-best 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game, while Fillipi leads NSU with 3.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game
  • Rogers is tied for third in NCAA Division II with 60 blocked shots this season and is tied for sixth nationally with 2.31 blocks per game, she leads the NSIC with 2.4 blocks per game in league contests
  • Jordyn Hilgemann and Alayna Benike have both knocked down a team-best 23 3-pointers this season while shooting 32.4 percent and 31.1 percent from distance respectively, Fillipi is the only other player to make more than ten 3-pointers with 19 this season
  • Northern State once again leads NCAA Division II with the fewest turnovers per game, averaging only 11.3 turnovers; the Wolves have committed ten or fewer turnovers in 11 games this season and hold an 8-3 record in those games
  • Rachel Garvey, Zoe Hardwick, Kailee Oliverson, and Laurie Rogers are the four players set to be honored by the Northern State basketball program prior to Saturday’s Senior Night contest against Minot State

 

UMARY STORYLINES

  • Kate Head is the lone Beaver to average double figures in scoring with 16.0 points per game while she adds 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game this season
  • Vilborg Jonsdottir leads Minot State with 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season, while Natasha Elliott collects a team-best 4.9 rebounds and Lorelei McIver averages a team-high 0.6 blocks per game
  • Mike Brandt is in his second season as the head women’s basketball coach at Minot State, holding a record of 19-33 with the Beavers; Brandt holds a career record of 526-328 in his 29th season as a collegiate women’s basketball coach
