Fan Primer: Wolves Return to Wachs Arena to Face Augustana and Wayne State

Aberdeen, S.D. â€“ For the first time in four weeks the Northern State women’s basketball team will return to the friendly confines of Wachs Arena to host Augustana and Wayne State in cross-divisional play. The Wolves and Vikings are set to square off with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on Friday evening. Northern will then end the weekend by facing the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon with a 4 p.m. tip-off.

Game Specific Promotions

  • The Northern State men will welcome back alumni all weekend with a variety of activities planned
  • Friday's contest is sponsored by Kessler's and will feature a Northern State Basketball Announcement
  • Saturday's game is sponsored by Ken's SuperFair Foods and is National Bobble Head Day
    • Limited edition adult and youth Thunder bobble head shirts will be sold Thursday & Friday in the Barnett Center office and Saturday at the game for $10

 

Entrances to the Facility & Gate Opening Times

Fans will be able to enter the Barnett Center through both the north and south doors. Access to the south entrance is available through both Dakota Bank Stadium entrances off South State Street and 15th Ave SE. Ticket gates will be located at both the north and south doors of the Barnett Center, and will open one hour prior to tip-off for all general admission and same day ticket sales. Gates will open one hour prior to tip-off each game day. 

 

Online Ticketing

Wolves Club season tickets and general admission passes can be purchased online at nsuwolves.universitytickets.com or at the gate on game day. The fully automated system allows fans to select their seat for game day with tickets sent directly to your email or mobile device. Pricing for season and single game tickets is available at nsuwolves.com/tickets. Senior and youth tickets are only available for purchase at the gate on game days. All game day ticket sales will be available at both the North and South entrances of the Barnett Center. The Northern State passbook will be located at the north doors of the Barnett Center, individuals must sign in via the far right line at the ticket gate. There is no re-entry into the facility.

Current Northern State University students will receive one free ticket to all home sporting events throughout the 2022-23 academic. Information on how to claim student tickets will be distributed via email. 

 

Parking

The first three rows of parking in the Barnett Center main lot will be reserved for Wolves Club members with an annual parking pass, with free parking for all fans available in the following rows to the North.

 

Concessions and Team Store

The Northern State concession stands are operated by Sodexo and offer a wide range of options for fans of all ages. Enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola product, bite into a soft pretzel with cheese, a world famous Wolf dog, or walking taco. Don’t forget to grab a freshly made popcorn or batch of Wisconsin cheese curds from one of the concession stands near you at all home Wolves athletic events. The NSU Nike Team Store will be open in its main Barnett Center location on game day, opening one hour prior to tip-off.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • Northern State enters this weekend’s cross-division games with a record of 7-6 (2-5 NSIC)
  • The Wolves are currently 11th overall in the NSIC and are sixth in the North Division
  • Northern dropped their last two games on New Year’s Eve and New Year's Day, falling on the road to Minnesota Duluth (70-63) and St. Cloud State (74-53)
  • Kailee Oliverson and Laurie Rogers are the one two Wolves to average double figures with 12.5 and 11.2 points per game respectively
  • Rogers also leads NSU with 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game
  • Through seven conference games Rogers leads the NSIC in free throw percentage, shooting 95.8 percent on 23-24 shooting from the charity stripe
  • Rianna Fillipi adds 9.6 points per game and leads Northern with 3.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game
  • Northern State remains the NCAA Division II leader in turnovers per game, averaging the nation’s lowest mark of 10.4 turnovers per game; NSU holds a 5-1 record in six games where they have committed ten or fewer turnovers
  • The Wolves rank within the top-25 nationally in two other statistical categories, ranking 25th in assist/turnover ratio (1.14) and tied for 25th in blocks per game (4.1)
  • Rogers ranks within the top-20 nationally in two statistical categories, ranking tied for 12th in blocked shots (25) and 16th in blocks per game (1.92)

 

(RV) AUGUSTANA STORYLINES

  • Augustana enters this weekend’s cross-division games with a record of 12-2 (6-2 NSIC)
  • The Vikings are currently tied for third overall in the NSIC and are tied for second in the South Division
  • Augie extended their winning streak to five games with an 80-77 victory at Wayne State, the Vikings overcame an early 7-point deficit with a 35-point third quarter in the win
  • Aislinn Duffy leads four Vikings averaging double figures with 15.2 points per game; Lauren Sees (14.1), Michaela Jewett (12.5), and Jennifer Aadland (10.7) are the other three Vikings to average double figures in scoring
  • Duffy also leads Augustana with 8.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game
  • Kenzie Rensch leads Augie with 3.2 steals per game and Jennifer Aadland averages a team-best 1.5 blocks per game
  • Through eight conference games, Augustana ranks first in the NSIC in field goal percentage (46.3%) and rebounding margin (+5.4)
  • The Vikings rank within the top-20 nationally in four statistical categories, ranking 13th in blocks per game (4.7), 14th in scoring offense (78.5), 15th in 3-point percentage (37.6%), and 17th in field goal percentage (46.2%)
  • Duffy is one of six players in NCAA Division II to record a triple-double this season with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists against Mount Marty
  • Rensch ranks within the top-10 nationally in two statistical categories, ranking tied for fourth in steals (45) and is tied for eighth in steals per game (3.21)
  • Dave Krauth is in his 34th and final season as the head women’s basketball coach at Augustana, holding a career coaching record of 682-298 with the Vikings
