Wolves Rake in Top-10 Finishes from USD Twilight

Vermillion, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams recorded 25 top-10 finishes, one event victories, and two school records from the USD Twilight meet to close out the regular season.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Chase Domier and Seth Martens took seventh and eighth in the 200m with times of 22.30 and 22.35 respectively
  • Nathan Alto ran to a ninth place finish in the 1500m, crossing the finish line in 4:08.07
  • Luke Schroeder won the 400m hurdles with a provisional time of 52.91, followed by Joel Matehs in seventh with a time of 57.61
  • The 4x100m relay team of Matehs, Schroeder, Isaac Olson, and Martens broke the school record with their runner-up time of 41.72
  • The 4x400m relay of Brady Janssen, Dylan Schimke, Sean Juengst, and Jackson Willis took fifth with a time of 3:35.67
  • Glen Quayle and Sam Tremelling took sixth and ninth in the pole vault, clearing 5.03m (provisional mark) and 4.43m respectively
  • Sean Mhende was the runner-up in the triple jump with a 14.18m mark
  • Tanner Berg and Austin Holt to fifth and eight in the discus, tossing 49.36m and 44.69m
  • Berg continued his 70-plus tosses in the hammer, throwing a new school record of 70.54m in second overall
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Vanessa Klein took tenth in the 400m with a time of 1:03.38
  • Shanice Burrell was the runner-up in the 100m hurdles with a provisional time of 13.99
  • Isabel Kinzer took fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.99
  • The 4x100m relay team of Kinzer, Shona Juliana, Klein, and Burrell took second with a time of 48.81
  • Tava Berg jumped to a fourth place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.65m
  • Kealy Hill and Kenzee Danielson placed seventh and eighth in the pole vault, each clearing a provisional mark of 3.78m
  • Juliana went on to finish as the runner-up in the triple jump with an 11.85m mark, followed by Sierra Sweeney in seventh, jumping 10.74m
  • Rachel Guthmiller threw 44.66m in the discus, placing fifth overall in the event, and added a fourth place finish in the javelin with a 40.55m toss
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Berg's hammer throw marks the third time this season he has broken his own school record in the event
  • The 4x100m squad broke the 18-year-old school record of 41.81 set by Chang Beachem, Clayton Kuhfeld, Shawn Warren, and Micah Arnold
  • Burrell was just .05 seconds off her own school record in the 100m hurdles
