Guthmiller, Harrison Lead Wolves with Event Wins from Texas

Canyon, Texas – The Northern State University track and field teams opened the Jo Meaker Classic on Friday, notching 15 top-10 finishes from the meet. In addition, the Wolves recorded one event victory on both the men's and women's side.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Chase Smith notched a fifth place finish in the 3000m steeplechase, running to a time of 11:12.52
  • John Jacklin recorded a seventh place finish in the 5000m with a time of 18:05.26
  • Glen Quayle and Sam Tremelling took second and third in the pole vault, clearing 4.70m and 4.55m respectively
  • Tanner Berg took seventh in the discus, throwing 48.18m, followed by Nick Olson in 13th, tossing 43.29m
  • Austin Holt recorded a fourth place finish in the javelin with a 42.46m toss
  • Jackson Harrison won the 10,000m, running to a time of 30:43.14
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Megan Mooberry took third in the 5000m run, finishing with a time of 18:26.68, followed by Avery Murray in 12th with a time of 20:57.69
  • Kenzee Danielson and Kealy Hill took fourth and fifth in the pole vault, clearing 3.45m and 3.25m respectively
  • Rachel Guthmiller recorded an 11th place finish in the discus, throwing 36.15m, and won the javelin with a 43.19m toss
  • Cassidy Gough and Shawney Coenraad followed with eighth and 13th in the javelin, throwing 31.90m and 28.26m
  • Victoria Kolbinger added a fourth place finish in the 10,000m with a time of 40:08.61
  • Shona Juliana tallied a third place finish in the long jump, notching a school record mark of 5.80m
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Juliana broke her own long jump record of 5.72m set a season ago
  • Harrison was just eight seconds off from tying the Northern State school record in the 10,000m, which is held by Jeremy VanVeen in 2007
