Box Score Winter Haven, Fla. – The Northern State baseball team opened their spring break trip to Florida with a 7-3 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday morning. Due to rain, the second game of the doubleheader between the Wolves and Bobcats was postponed in the bottom of the second inning with WVWC leading 4-2. The two teams will attempt to reschedule the remainder of the game later in the week if their schedules allow for it.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Reece Ragatz started off the scoring early for Northern State when he singled in the top of the first inning, allowing Spencer Sarringar and Karson Hesser to score; Ragatz reached second base on the play because of a throwing error
- Ramon Vega Jr. added to the scoring in the inning when he scored Ragatz on a single to center field
- The Wolves capped off a 4-run first inning when Zachary Lanier hit a single down the left field line to score Vega Jr.
- West Virginia Wesleyan tacked on their first run of the game when Sam Ingram hit a homerun to left field
- The Wolves brought the lead back to four in the second inning, when a Ragatz sac fly scored Hesser
- Northern extended the lead to 6-1 when Lanier was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, allowing Niko Pezonella to score
- After two scoreless innings, the Bobcats chipped into the NSU lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning
- Northern closed out the scoring when Isaiah Chevalier hit a sac fly to left field and scored Ragatz
- The Wolves scored their seven runs on 11 hits, with one error defensively
- Max Otto earned his third win of the season on the mound, he went four complete innings while getting the start
- Mitchell Tolk and Zach Carolin did not allow any hits or runs while pitching in relief the final three innings; Tolk threw three strikeouts and allowed three walks in two complete innings, while Carolin threw two strikeouts in one complete inning
