Wolves Set for NSIC Quarterfinal Match-Up with No. 13 Huskies

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team will face off against No. 13 St. Cloud State for the third time this season. The NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament quarterfinal match-up is set for a 4:30 p.m. tip-off on Saturday afternoon at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern State enters the quarterfinal round with a record of 13-14 (9-12 NSIC), they finished the regular season tenth place overall in the conference and was fifth place in the north division
  • The Wolves picked up a 76-66 road victory at Augustana in their first round match-up
  • Northern is averaging 66.3 points, 39.3 rebounds, 12.1 assists, 14.6 turnovers, 5.8 steals, and 4.4 blocks per game
  • NSU is shooting the ball 41.1 percent from the field, 30.3 percent from 3-point range, and 72.8 percent from the free throw line

  • Fillipi leads Northern in assists and steals, averaging 4.4 assists and 2.0 steals per game; she ranks fifth and eighth respectively in the NSIC in those categories
  • Northern State holds a record of 26-18 all-time in the NSIC Tournament and have won two tournament championships (2015 & 2017)
#13 ST. CLOUD STATE STORYLINES
  • St. Cloud State enters the quarterfinal round with a record of 21-3 (19-2 NSIC); they finished the regular season as overall and north division co-champions in the NSIC
  • SCSU entered the week ranked No. 13 in the WBCA Coaches' Poll, No. 9 in the D2SIDA Poll, and No. 2 in the NCAA Central Region Poll
  • The Huskies are currently on a ten game win streak, and ended the regular season with a road sweep of Minnesota Crookston (67-59) and Bemidji State (67-57)
  • St. Cloud State is averaging 65.7 points, 37.5 rebounds, 15.0 assists, 12.1 turnovers, 8.1 steals, and 4.0 blocks per game

LAST MEETING
  • Northern State and St. Cloud State last played on February 4th in St. Cloud, when the Huskies earned a 67-45 victory
  • The all-time series is currently tied 14-14, and this is the first ever meeting between the two programs in the NSIC Tournament
