Brookings, S.D. – The Northern State University indoor track and field teams closed out the regular season on Saturday at the SDSU Last Chance Meet. Northern broke two school records, tallied numerous provisional marks, and saw 40 top-10 finishes between the men and women.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

• Dylan Schimke led the way for the Wolves in the 600m, taking third with a time of 1:26.31
• Schimke was followed by Caleb Schlekeway, Dan Istvanovich, and Jacob Rohrer in seventh through ninth with times of 1:29.87, 1:31.44, and 1:32.46 respectively
• Tafara Hondonga, Brady Janssen, and Ronald Stephenson took sixth, eighth, and tenth in the 400m with times of 50.37, 50.89, and 51.77
• Jonathan Burkhalter, Rhaecine Sam, and John Jacklin finish in fifth through seventh in the 1000m with times of 2:38.75, 2:40.49, and 2:50.76
• Chase Domier and Seth Martens took third and fourth in the 200m, followed by Joel Matehs and Stephenson in eighth and tenth with times of 22.70, 22.73, 22.90, and 23.19
• Tanner Berg notched a second place finish in the shot put, throwing a provisional mark 16.96m
• Brady Bauman and Ethan Barnett rounded out the top-10 of the shot put with marks of 14.18m and 14.01m
• Jackson Willis added a fourth place finish in the long jump, jumping 6.63m
• The men's vault crew of Glen Quayle, Sam Tremelling, and Rico Imus took second, fourth, and eighth; clearing 5.02m, 4.57m, and 3.97m
• Quayle set a new school record with his over 5-meter vault and currently ranks in the top-10 nationally in the event
• Berg went on to win the weight throw, tossing 21.39m, followed by Nick Olson and McCaden Anderson in sixth and ninth with throws of 16.44m and 14.93m
• Max Geditz tallied a third place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.90m
• Sean Mhende and Darrian Hood took third and fourth in the triple jump with marks of 13.04m and 13.00m

 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

• Summer Carlson and Mary Franssen took eighth and ninth in the 600m with times of 1:38.03 and 1:40.69
• Shanice Burrell finished as the runner-up in the 60m hurdles with a new school record time of 8.70; followed by Renea Taylor in eighth with a time of 9.20
• Burrell's time ranks 17^th nationally
• Taylor went on to finish as the runner-up in the 400m with a time of 57.97, while Isabel Kinzer took sixth with a time of 59.73
• Kenzee Danielson and Kealy Hill placed third and fourth in the pole vault, clearing 3.58m and 3.28m as the top Division II placers
• Shona Juliana won the long jump with a 5.63m mark on his first attempt of the day
• Cassidy Gough and Shawney Coenraad took fourth and tenth in the weight throw, tossing 16.21m and 14.53m
• Tava Berg cleared 1.55m in the high jump, taking sixth overall
• Sierra Sweeney closed out the field events with a fourth place finish in the triple jump, notching a 10.65m mark

Northern travels to the NSIC Championships February 25-26 in Mankato. Competition kicks off at 9:30 on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday from the Myers Fieldhouse.
