Two School Records Fall from SDSU Last Chance Meet

Brookings, S.D. – The Northern State University indoor track and field teams closed out the regular season on Saturday at the SDSU Last Chance Meet. Northern broke two school records, tallied numerous provisional marks, and saw 40 top-10 finishes between the men and women.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS  
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Summer Carlson and Mary Franssen took eighth and ninth in the 600m with times of 1:38.03 and 1:40.69
  • Shanice Burrell finished as the runner-up in the 60m hurdles with a new school record time of 8.70; followed by Renea Taylor in eighth with a time of 9.20
  • Burrell's time ranks 17th nationally
  • Taylor went on to finish as the runner-up in the 400m with a time of 57.97, while Isabel Kinzer took sixth with a time of 59.73
  • Kenzee Danielson and Kealy Hill placed third and fourth in the pole vault, clearing 3.58m and 3.28m as the top Division II placers
  • Shona Juliana won the long jump with a 5.63m mark on his first attempt of the day
  • Cassidy Gough and Shawney Coenraad took fourth and tenth in the weight throw, tossing 16.21m and 14.53m
  • Tava Berg cleared 1.55m in the high jump, taking sixth overall
  • Sierra Sweeney closed out the field events with a fourth place finish in the triple jump, notching a 10.65m mark
 
UP NEXT
Northern travels to the NSIC Championships February 25-26 in Mankato. Competition kicks off at 9:30 on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday from the Myers Fieldhouse.
