Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State baseball will return to action this weekend with a four game series at Washburn starting on Saturday afternoon. The series will run from Saturday through Monday in Manhattan and Topeka, Kansas.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

• Northern State enters the weekend series with a record of 1-2 on the season
• Northern defeated Central Oklahoma (10-1) and lost to Emporia State (12-6) and Pittsburg State at the Edmond First Pitch Classic
• The Wolves are hitting .303 with 33 hits, eight doubles, five homeruns, 22 RBI, and 23 runs scored
• Northern's pitching staff has recorded an ERA of 6.92, allowing 28 hits and 20 walks, while throwing 25 strikeouts; opponents hold a batting average of .275 against NSU pitchers
• Austin Portner has the top batting average on the team, hitting .500 with four hits, a double, two RBI, four runs scored, and has an on base percentage of .615
• Spencer Sarringar is the only other NSU player to hit above .300, hitting .308 with four hits, a double, an RBI and two runs scored
• Max Otto started on the mound and earned the victory for Northern State against Central Oklahoma, pitching 5.0 innings, allowing five hits and one earned run for an ERA of 1.80; he threw five strikeouts and four scoreless innings
• Mike Stubbs, Michael Chevalier, and Christian Mundt have combined for 6.2 innings pitched in relief, they have not allowed an earned run and have only given up five hits; the three have combined for six strikeouts thrown
• Karson Hesser, Niko Pezonella, and Connor Knecht all connected for homeruns against Pittsburg State, as the two teams combined for eight in the game

WASHBURN STORYLINES

• Washburn enters the weekend series with a record of 5-3 on the season
• The Ichabods went a perfect 4-0 last weekend, defeating Oklahoma Baptist (7-3), Northwestern Oklahoma State (12-10), New Mexico Highlands (14-4), and Oklahoma Baptist (8-3)
• The Ichabods are hitting .278 with 81 hits, 19 doubles, four triples, seven homeruns, 45 RBI, and 58 runs scored
• Washburn was picked sixth overall in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll, following a fifth place finish a season ago when they went 20-22 (18-15 MIAA)

• Jack Brimacombe is the top starting pitching for Washburn, in two starts he has recorded an ERA of 3.00 in 9.0 innings pitched, allowing eight hits, and has thrown 12 strikeouts
