Northern State Preps for SDSU Last Chance

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams will close out the regular indoor season tomorrow in Brookings at the SDSU Last Chance meet. Competition kicks off at 12:30 p.m. from the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • The Wolves competed from the SDSU Indoor Classic last weekend recording 25 top-15 finishes
  • Two student-athletes broke school records from Brookings, in addition to two event victories
  • Northern looks to sharpen their times and marks heading into the NSIC Championships in just under a week
  • The top-30 (top-24 in the 200m & 400m events) ranked student-athletes in each event will qualify for the NSIC Championships; a full listing of the Northern State Wolves is below

WOLVES WITH NATIONAL MARKS
  • Tanner Berg is ranked first nationally in the weight throw with a provisional mark of 22.58m, and also ranks 30th in the shot put with a 16.75m toss
  • Shona Juliana sits in 19th in the triple jump with her provisional mark of 12.02m and 27th in the long jump with a 5.72m mark
  • Glen Quayle is currently 23rd in the pole vault, clearing 4.90m
  • Shanice Burrell is ranked 27th with a provisional mark of 8.83 in the 60m hurdles
  • Tava Berg sits at No. 18 in the high jump with a provisional mark of 1.69m
 
SCHOOL RECORD WATCH
  • Juliana broke the triple jump school record at the SDSU Holiday Open with a mark of 12.02m; the previous record of 11.46m was set by Monique Ryckman in 1987
  • Juliana then broke her own school record in the long jump to open 2022 with a 5.73m mark
  • Jennifer Clark broke the 800m record of 2:19.93 set by Makayla Perryman in 2013
  • Jackson Harrison's time of 14:37.79 broke the 16 year old record of 14:38.11 held by Jeremy VanVleen
  • Glen Quayle surpassed the previous pole vault record of 4.80m set by Ross Pfeifle in 2009
  • Tanner Berg topped his own school record in the weight throw, tossing 22.58m, which is the third best throw all-time at the Division II level
  • Jackson Harrison broke the 5000m school record at the SDSU Indoor Classic, notching a time of 14:35.46
  • Mary Franssen took home the 1000m school record with a time of 3:00.80 at the SDSU Indoor Classic
