Sioux Falls, S.D. – The final day of the 2022 NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships came to a close today at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls, and the Northern State swim team earned a sixth place overall finish with 221 team points. Day four saw
Maddie Gonzales become the third NSU swimmer to earn all-conference honors when she earned a runner-up finish in the 200 yard backstroke.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fanny Legros earned a tenth place finish for Northern State in the 1650 yard freestyle, swimming to a time of 18:17.75 in the event finals
- Legros later completed a time trial in the 1650 yard freestyle, breaking the Northern State freshman record in the event
- Lauren Forsyth recorded a 13th place finish in the 100 yard IM, hitting the wall in a time of 1:01.24 in the B Finals
- Kennady Davis and Mayson Sheldon each competed in the C Final of the 100 yard IM, finishing 22nd and 24th respectively in times of 1:03.61 and 1:03.80
- Haley Osborne gave the Wolves another top-10 finish after swimming to tenth place overall in the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 52.45
- Delaney Ryken and Connor Doran both took part in the 100 yard freestyle C Finals, earning 22nd and 24th overall in times of 53.07 and 54.29
- Maddie Gonzales became Northern State's third all-conference swimmer of the 2022 NSIC Championships, when she swam to a second place finish in the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:03.57
- In the C Finals of the 200 yard backstroke, Mia Fursedonne earned 22nd overall in a time of 2:11.38
- Sheldon was Northern's top swimmer in the 200 yard breaststroke, hitting the wall in a time of 2:31.58 in the C Final
- The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Ryken, Marialuisa Avila, Doran, and Osborne, recorded a sixth place finish in a time of 3:32.15, this was the top relay finish of the NSIC Championships for Northern State
UP NEXT
Northern State finishes the 2021-22 with a dual meet record of 4-4 and went 3-4 against NSIC competition. The Wolves earned their first invitational win in program history this season with a victory in the Dragon Invitational, defeating three other conference opponents in the invite as well. Their three all-conference performers (
Haley Osborne,
Lauren Forsyth, and
Maddie Gonzales) were the most since the 2016-17 season. Osborne will await the announcement of NCAA Championship qualifiers in the coming weeks, after hitting the NCAA B Standard in the 200 yard freestyle.
