Northern State Returns Home to Face Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team will return to Wachs Arena for their final full weekend of home games for the season, when they welcome Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. The Wolves and Beavers are scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on Friday, and the Wolves and Golden Eagles are set for 4 p.m. tip-off on Saturday afternoon.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern State enters this weekend with a record of 10-12 (7-10 NSIC), and are currently tenth place overall in the NSIC and fourth in the north division
  • Last weekend the Wolves dropped a pair of games to the NSIC co-leaders, #18 St. Cloud State (67-45) and Minnesota Duluth (66-46)
  • Northern is averaging 64.2 points, 39.7 rebounds, 10.8 assists, 15.4 turnovers, 5.9 steals, and 4.5 blocks per game
  • NSU is shooting the ball 40.3 percent from the field, 28.5 percent from 3-point range, and 73.3 percent from the free throw line

  • Last weekend the Beavers earned a weekend sweep over Minot State (89-61) and UMary (66-63)
  • BSU is averaging 69.6 points, 35.5 rebounds, 15.1 assists, 15.6 turnovers, 7.0 steals, and 2.9 blocks per game
  • They are shooting the ball 44.5 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from 3-point range, and 69.5 percent from the free throw line
  • Bemidji State's 34.4 percent 3-point percentage ranks second in the NSIC, and they average a conference best 7.7 made 3-pointers per game

MINNESOTA CROOKSTON STORYLINES

  • Last weekend the Golden Eagles earned a weekend split, dropping the first game to UMary (72-70) before snapping a 13-game losing streak and earned their first conference win of the season over Minot State (91-65)
  • UMC is averaging 58.1 points, 35.0 rebounds, 10.3 assists, 15.5 turnovers, 4.9 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game
  • They are shooting the ball 37.5 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from 3-point range, and 72.6 percent from the free throw line
  • Kylie Post leads the Golden Eagles in scoring, averaging 10.9 points while grabbing 5.0 rebounds per game
  • Abi Fraaza is the only other UMC player to average double figures, averaging 10.6 points while grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game
  • The leading rebounder for Minnesota Crookston is Bren Fox who averages 5.8 rebounds and adds 8.1 points per game
LOOKING BACK TO DECEMBER
  • Northern State and Minnesota Crookston played the first of this season's two match-ups in Crookston on December 10th, when the Wolves used a strong first half to earn a 64-47 road victory
  • Northern leads the all-time series 36-12, and have won seven straight games in the series that have been played in Aberdeen
